Harper’s Ferry

Harper’s Ferry doesn’t exist anymore, but here’s where it was…

Well there isn’t a ferry anymore; they  moved that a mile down the peninsula to Southworth. But here’s where it used to be, back when the Harper Brick Factory was producing the bricks of Pioneer Square (and a few shipped down to Ghirardelli as well).

Olalla Bluegrass Festival

It’s small. It’s quirky.  It’s one day only. It’s in a small place called Olalla, which happens to be just up and over a few hills from Harper Hill.

Travel set: E-P5, 17mm f/1.8, 75mm f/1.8, and 12-40 f/2.8

This is the third in a 3-part series about the Olympus Pen E-P5, possibly the most beautiful camera ever designed. The first article is “Portrait of a Camera” and the second one is “A Date In The City“.

You learn to travel light if you have a distain for checking luggage. I do. That distain was born from multiple experiences of lost…

Olympus: A+ For Customer Service

I probably shouldn’t be advertising this because I don’t want to create undue expectations, but I was impressed with the repair service I received when I sent in my OM-D E-M1.  The eyepiece somehow got jarred loose and  broke off, even inside my protected bag. New Gallery: Vietnam

I’ve just posted a new gallery to Qamera called “Vietnam.” Those of you who follow me know that I travel there very frequently. The contains some of my favorite photos over the past few years: http://qamera.smugmug.com/Galleries/Vietnam/

I visit Vietnam often, mostly Saigon but in the past year I’ve also had the opportunity to visit Phan Thiet, Danang, Hue, and Hoi An. There is a relaxed…

4321: 4 Cities, 3 Countries, 2 Continents - all in 1 Day

When you fly from Asia to the U.S., you lose time by flying ‘against’ the sun – but this is more than made up for by the International Date Line, a somewhat arbitrary line drawn north-south across the Pacific Ocean and roughly half-way across the world from the line that goes through Greenwich, England for which “Greenwich Mean Time” designates the baseline for all time zones.  So what does this…
